Every product has a story, and that beautiful framed piece of artwork that goes so well with your favorite pair of curtains is no exception.
Here’s how an art print makes its journey from our desk to your walls in five steps.
Step 1: We Select the artwork
The initial step is the selection of the actual print. We are fortunate to work with several talented vendors who provide us with samples of artwork so we can carefully select the composition that will beautifully coordinate with and complement our other products. Yes, we get to spend some of our days just looking at art (it’s no wonder we love our jobs!).
Step 2: We Choose a mat
Once the artwork is selected, we go through a process of determining mat selection. There are many factors at play when selecting mats, including predominant colors and the focal point of the print. It is not only a question of what color and texture will work well with the chosen print, but also how many mats will make the composition “sing”. Other than print selection, this can be the most time-consuming part of the process, but it’s vital to creating a beautiful end result.
Step 3: We Frame it
After the mats have been chosen, the frame is selected. As you can see in the image below, our library of frame swatches includes a variety options. We typically narrow down our swatches to three potential frame options and from those, we make the final selection. To guide our search for the perfect frame, we keep the colors and composition of the art itself in mind, and focus on the desired feeling the finished piece should convey.
Step 4: Take a step back
The final step is vetting the total composition of the piece—ensuring all of the elements come together cohesively and beautifully. Once this has been done, we send the final details to the brilliant women and men who hand-assemble each piece of art. They take the time and care to ensure that each and every framed print meets our standards for timeless beauty and quality.
Step 5: Voila!
We receive the finished piece…
…and offer it to you!
