Today we’re excited to welcome the multi-talented Layla Gunning of My Sunset Avenue to the Country Curtains blog! Layla’s sharing her light and bright nursery/guest room reveal showcasing some seriously stylish Roman shades, bedding and home décor.
Hi! I’m Layla, new mom to be and home & lifestyle blogger over at www.mysunsetavenue.com. I have the pleasure of taking over Country Curtains blog today and I’m excited to share the little “guest space” section of our nursery we created with the help of Country Curtains!
Once we started transitioning our guest room into a nursery, we thought keeping the full size bed in there would actually be a huge bonus for when we had our moms stay over or any out-of-town guests wanting to come visit. Since our master bedroom is actually on the first floor, and that is where the baby will be sleeping with us for the first few months, this seemed like the perfect solution.
Now came the task of combining a nursery with a guest room in a way that flowed and didn’t seem like we just threw a bed up there in the middle of a baby room. We wanted something that complimented our “outdoor adventure” themed nursery, but felt clean, welcoming and adult friendly.
Country Curtains had the perfect additions to join these two spaces together.
Up first was finding the right window treatments for the two small windows above the bed. With the quirky slanted ceilings I thought keeping everything simple and clean would be less of a distraction. These Roman Shades work perfectly. They are incredible quality, will grow with the room and most importantly are cordless and kid friendly.
When it came to bedding, we already had a white ruffled comforter set that we had to work with. Since I didn’t like how “feminine” the ruffles were in our rustic boy nursery, simply folding the comforter over and adding this cozy and neutral waffle weave blanket did the trick. It ties in with the rest of the bedding, decor and the grey color helps break up all the white in this little corner. It’s also incredibly well made and cozy.
Design Tip: Add interest to a neutral space by layering pattern and texture. Don’t worry too much about matching the exact colors, when it’s all together it will look purposeful yet fuss free.
I love the look of mixing in this dark grey linen pillow with the cream cable knit pillow, arrow pattern sheets and lighter grey waffle blanket.
These woven baskets are the perfect decor addition. Pretty and functional. I can hide and store all of baby’s toys, while the color and style accent the rest of the decor perfectly without screaming “nursery.” Again, I can’t mention enough the amazing quality. These are super-durable and would work as the perfect storage solution in any space in your home, plus they’re made in the USA!
I hope you all like our nursery/guest space combo as much as we do! Now we’re not only ready for baby we’re ready for everyone we love to come visit! Thank you to Country Curtains for providing us with these gorgeous quality additions to our new favorite room!
